Script: “I’m Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien. I’m a grandson of a
cop and we grew adult off Parsons Avenue. I’ve spent decades gripping dangerous people off a streets.
To broach probity and keep we safe, I’ve prosecuted a misfortune of a worst, from murderers to
rapists to terrorists and politicians from both parties. That’s because final year we was named Ohio
Prosecutor of a Year. I’m Ron O’Brien and I’m using to keep a streets safe.”

Analysis: In O’Brien’s initial ad for a ubiquitous election, he is reminding
voters of who he is. It opens with O’Brien, a longtime runner, restraining his boots before starting a
jog by area streets. When he talks over a ad, he touts his knowledge — a pivotal point
for a O’B rien campaign. Indeed, O’Brien has been prosecuting crime in Franklin County for
decades. He was allocated city prosecutor in 1978 and inaugurated city profession in 1985. His initial term
as county prosecutor started in 1997. O’Brien has prosecuted both Democrats and Republicans in
Franklin County and as an allocated special prosecutor in other counties. The Ohio Prosecuting
Attorneys Association named him Prosecutor of a Year in 2015.
